Materials You’ll Need

• Easter-themed garland (from Dollar Tree or any suitable garland)
• Square wreath form (found at Dollar Tree)
• White or light-colored full-sized pipe cleaners, cut in half
• Scissors

Step 1: Cutting and Preparing the Ribbons

Before we begin crafting the spiky bows, we’ll need to cut and prepare the ribbons. You’ll need a total of seven different ribbons, with varying widths and textures. Most of the ribbons can be sourced from Dollar Tree, but feel free to add a few unique ones from other stores like Michael’s if you desire. Cut the ribbons into 12-inch pieces and add a v-cut to the ends to create a decorative finish.

Step 2: Crafting the Spiky Bows

Now, let’s create the spiky bows that will adorn our wreath. Start with the 4-inch wide ribbon as the base of the bow. Then, layer two 3-inch ribbons in an “x” shape over the 4-inch ribbon as seen above. Place the last 3-inch ribbon and the 1.5-inch ribbon parallel to the 4-inch ribbon. Gather all the ribbons in the center and use a pre-cut pipe cleaner to secure them together. Repeat this process to create a total of nine spiky bows.

Step 3: Preparing the Wreath Form and Attaching the Sign

Before adding the spiky bows, we’ll first attach the adorable “Every Bunny Welcome” sign to the wreath form. Position the sign as you like on the wreath form and use pipe cleaners to secure it in place. You can see how I chose to position it below. Alternatively, you can use zip-ties or any other suitable attachment material you have available.

Step 4: Assembling the Spiky Bows on the Wreath

Now that the sign is attached to the wreath form, let’s start adding the spiky bows. Begin by attaching one of the bows at the top point of the wreath. Continue by attaching bows to the other two corners that are visible and then fill in the rest of the wreath with the remaining bows. Remember to fluff the bows to make the most of the available space.

Step 5: Embellishing the Wreath with Easter Garland

To add some extra charm to the wreath, we’ll use the Easter-themed garland. Remove the garland pieces from the string they came attached to. Cut the garland into smaller pieces and create bows with 1/2-inch wide ribbons to garnish each garland piece. Add a touch of cohesion by placing a small cotton ball or white pompom in the center of each bow. Use the leftover string from the garland to tie the garland pieces onto the wreath, covering any remaining gaps.

During one of my recent wanderings through the aisles of Walmart, a burst of color caught my attention. Nestled among the shelves were these delightful mini flower bundles, each priced at just $.97. Their vibrant hues and delicate petals were a reminder that beauty often resides in simplicity. These tiny bundles held so much potential, waiting to be transformed into something truly enchanting. Along with some floral wire, also conveniently available at Walmart, these bundles will form the foundation of our project.

Bringing Everything Together

The first step in crafting our Easter wreath is preparing the  flower bundles. This process involves fluffing out each bundle, enhancing its volume, and giving it a fuller, more visually appealing look. It’s like breathing life into these bundles, allowing them to bloom to their fullest potential. Once done, we’re ready to start arranging them into a shape that’s reminiscent of a carrot, marking the beginning of our creative journey.

Our carrot starts taking shape at the tip. Arrange three bundles together to form a point, with one bunch protruding slightly further than the two on either side. At the juncture where all three stems meet, bind them together using our floral wire. This small cluster forms the base of our carrot, setting the stage for the layers to come.

Next, pick up three more flower bundles. This time, however, ensure all three are at the same height. After wiring them together, attach this second layer to the first bundle we made. As we add each layer, our carrot will start to take shape, growing in size and vibrancy.

Then, move on to create a larger flower bundle using four mini-bunches. Following the same process, ensure all four are at the same height, wire them together at the point where they meet, and attach this third layer to the previous two. Each layer adds depth to the carrot shape, making it fuller and more realistic.

For the final layer, use five mini-bunches of flowers. Fan them out as before and attach them where they converge. It’s essential to pre-bend the outer flowers outwards for easier attachment later. This final layer is secured to the previous three layers using floral wire, completing the body of our carrot.

Now that our carrot is fully formed, it’s time to add character by incorporating some greenery at the top. Attach a small block of floral foam to the bottom of your bouquet using floral wire. For added security, reinforce it with a dab of hot glue. To give it a neater finish, wrap the foam in a piece of burlap.

Adding the greenery is perhaps the most exciting part of the process. It breathes life into the carrot decoration, adding depth, variation, and a dash of realism. Use both larger and smaller pieces of greenery, arranging them until you’re satisfied with the look.

Finally, turn your attention to the open space in the center of our carrot. Here, create a big, attractive bow out of natural-looking ribbon. I’ve chosen burlap-style ribbon, yellow and pink checkered ribbon (to match my peach, pink, and yellow flowers), and a smaller white and sage green checkered ribbon. Attach your bow with pipe cleaners to the middle section and fan it out to cover the empty space.

Step 1: Gather the Materials

To begin, we will need four pool noodles and a leaning sign from the dollar store. The sign I chose happened to be a Halloween leftover that I snagged at Christmas time for a mere $1.25. Don’t hesitate to ask the store manager for discounts on out-of-season items. Let’s turn these dollar store treasures into an adorable St. Patrick’s Day porch decoration.

Step 2: Embrace the Colors

St. Patrick’s Day is synonymous with the color green, and I absolutely adore it! I also have a soft spot for rainbows, as does my enthusiastic 3-year-old, who declares that his favorite color is “all the colors of the rainbow.” Hence, I decided to create a rainbow effect using four pool noodles—red, orange, green, and blue. Feel free to choose your preferred colors from the wide selection available at the dollar store.

Step 3: Cutting the Pool Noodles

Grab your pool noodles and cut each of them in half lengthwise. You can use scissors, a box knife, or any other cutting tool you prefer. Personally, I found that a box knife effortlessly sliced through the pool noodles like butter. It’s incredibly satisfying to work with these soft, pliable pool noodles!

Step 4: Attaching the Pool Noodles to the Sign

Take half of the cut pool noodles and position them on the front of your sign. The sign may have a black, brown, or white frame. If you’re not fond of the frame color, you can always use the back of the sign. I chose the front, as I appreciated the contrasting black frame. The length of the leaning sign perfectly matches that of the full-sized pool noodles, making it an ideal fit for this project. Line up the pool noodles along the top edge of the sign, allowing a slight overlap with the frame. This gives the decoration a polished and finished appearance.

Step 5: Securing the Pool Noodles

To ensure that the pool noodles stay in place while the glue dries, grab a long bamboo skewer. Align a couple of pool noodles at the edge and insert the skewer through them. Gradually add the third and fourth pool noodles as you continue pushing the skewer through. This clever trick will keep the pool noodles aligned and secure. Start by applying hot glue along the bottom or top edge of the sign, adhering the pool noodles to it.

Step 6: Additional Support with Bamboo Skewers

To reinforce the structure, insert another bamboo skewer about a quarter of the way down the sign, piercing through all four pool noodles. Repeat this process along the length of the sign using approximately 5-6 skewers. Remember, these skewers are temporary and will be removed later. Apply hot glue between the dowel rods, attaching the pool noodles firmly to the sides of the sign until you reach the bottom. Be careful not to glue the skewers, as they need to be removed at the end.

Step 7: Finishing Touches

As you near the bottom of the sign, you may notice slight variations in the length of the pool noodles. In addition, some pool noodles might not be perfectly aligned or may have a slight bend, but fret not! These minor details can easily be addressed. For instance, at the bottom of my sign, the blue pool noodle is a couple of inches shorter than the others. To rectify any bending, you can gently bend any pool noodle with a slight bend into the desired position and secure it with glue. Remember to glue down all the pool noodles at the end of the sign, ensuring a neat and cohesive look.

Step 8: Securing the Pool Noodles Together

With the pool noodles in place, it’s time to give them some extra stability. Apply hot glue where the pool noodles are touching, gently separating them with your fingers to create small gaps for the glue. Repeat this process all the way down the length of the noodles, firmly adhering them to one another. This step ensures that the rainbow effect stays intact and adds an extra layer of durability to the decoration, especially since it will be displayed outside.

Step 9: Adding the Pot of Gold

Now, it’s time to introduce the final star of our St. Patrick’s Day porch decoration—the pot of gold! Another fantastic find from the dollar store, this delightful ornament will cover any unevenness or gaps at the bottom of the pool noodles. Securely attach the pot of gold to the sign using hot glue, ensuring it sits snugly and adds a touch of magic to your creation.

What Do I Need?

First, you’ll want to make sure that you have the correct supplies that will help you to get the best results. Here are the two things that you will need: 

• A hairdryer with some type of diffuser attachment

I have the Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer, and I absolutely love it!

• A good-quality steamer

I have this steamer from Amazon, and it has worked amazingly well for me.

Determining the Problem

Next, you will need to determine the problem. There are two possible scenarios that can coincide separately or together. I purchased my silk flowers from Dollar Tree, and when I bought them, they were already smashed. This is what mine looked like before fluffing it:

Take a look at your flower. Every silk flower is made up of two parts: the stem and the petals. At the top of the stem are plastic leaves that help connect the petals to the stem. The first possible scenario is that this part of the flower has been squashed, making the flower appear more oval-like than circular. The second possible issue is that the flower petals themselves can be smashed together, bent, or warped in some way. Determine which of these issues you have, or if both problems are present. In my case, both issues were present.

How to Fix It

If your problem is with the plastic stem/leaves of the flower, pull out your blow dryer! Make sure to set it on low, and make sure you are using some type of diffuser attachment. Whatever you have on hand will work great. Hold the flower upright and spin it between your fingers while letting the warm air from the dryer slowly warm up the plastic. Only do this for a minute or so–you don’t want the plastic to become too hot, or even melt.

Once the plastic has warmed up, it will become more pliable. Use your hands to mush it into the proper position, and make sure you smush it in every direction. The goal is to create a flower that is less oblong and more circular, just like a real flower.

If your problem is with the silk petals, then pull out your steamer. Remember, steamers were created to get rid of wrinkles in any type of fabric. Personally, I have used my steamer for many different things. From curtains to bedspreads, to clothes, and more, my steamer has come in handy. Since the flower petals are made of fabric, you can also use a steamer on them!

First, turn your steamer on. Once there is a steady flow of steam, with one hand hold your steamer, and with the other, hold your flower sideways so that the steam flows directly into the petals. Spin the flower between your fingers as the steam works its magic on the petals. You don’t need to do this for long. In less than a minute, you should already see the flower starting to open up. Once you see this happening, turn off the steamer and go in with your fingers. You can pull apart petals that are stuck together as well as puff up petals that are bent over or smashed. 

At this point, the flower will have almost doubled in size from where it was before using these techniques!

Conclusion

Silk flowers are some of the best decorations for your home, to include in a wreath, or to use in lieu of a traditional wedding bouquet or wedding flowers! Even so, they are some of the most fragile replacements for real flowers. Being able to re-fluff and revive them so that they can be used more than once saves both money and time searching for new artificial flowers.

Interestingly, several parts for this bunny actually come from an unexpected place – the cleaning section at the Dollar Tree. We’ll be using three mop heads and creatively repurposing them to cover our wire frames. Here’s a handy trick for working with the mop heads: turn them over, and you’ll notice a seam running down the center where it has been sewn together. This is precisely where you should cut. Cutting anywhere else might result in a massive hairball and unnecessary chaos. Crafting should be an enjoyable process, not a stressful one, so this tip ensures that your crafting experience remains smooth.

Take one mop head and cut it into two pieces straight down the middle at the seam. Next, take your second mop head and cut this into fourths (first, down the middle vertically, and then cut those two pieces in half vertically). Finally, cut your third mop head into two pieces, like the first. These pieces will soon transform into the fluffy body of our bunny.

Once you’ve finished cutting, take these pieces to the trashcan and remove any excess fluff that is wanting to come out at the edges where you cut. This step helps keep your workspace clean and the craft process smoother. It’s small steps like these that make the crafting process more efficient and enjoyable.

Now, with all our supplies ready, we’re set to embark on our crafting adventure. Let’s dive into the process and start bringing our fluffy bunny wreath to life!

Repeat this on the second ear until both are snugly covered in fluffy material. Any excess can be snipped off once you’re done gluing, ensuring a neat and clean finish.

Next, our focus moves to the bunny’s “body” – the 12-inch wreath. Lay each of your three remaining pieces of the mop heads on the form, positioning them to cover the entire area. Attach them securely with hot glue, wrapping around the edges if possible for a seamless look. Don’t worry about any excess material; it can be trimmed off to maintain the perfect round shape of our bunny’s body.

The next step is an exciting one – connecting the head to the body, bringing the whole bunny together. Using zip ties, feed them through the metal rings on the back of the wreaths, and secure the two together. Once done, trim off the excess zip tie ends for a neat finish.

Finally, to complete our adorable bunny, we’re going to infuse a touch of spring. We’ll fill in the center section at the top near the bunny’s ears with some spring-inspired fake flowers and lamb’s ear greenery. Snip the flowers off their stems and attach them in the empty spot by the bunny’s ears using hot glue. Add in the greenery to create a lush, vibrant look. And there you have it! Your sweet and simple fluffy bunny wreath is ready! This charming creation is sure to add a festive touch to your Easter decor.

Gathering the Supplies

Before we dive head-first into our crafting adventure, we must first gather our essential supplies. These are the building blocks that will bring our adorable bunny wreath to life. First on our list is a bunny-shaped wreath form. These forms serve as the skeleton of our project, providing the shape and structure that we’ll build upon. They’re usually available at Dollar Tree, making them not only a vital component of our craft but also a cost-effective one.

Next up, we require some fuzzy yarn. This will serve as the skin of our bunny, adding texture and a realistic feel to our creation. Opt for shades of grey, white, or tan to mimic the natural colors of a bunny. For this particular project, I’ve chosen a soft shade of grey, which adds a touch of elegance and sophistication to the final product.

Moving on, we have a pink and white gift bag on our list. This isn’t just any ordinary gift bag, though. It’s about to undergo a transformation and emerge as our bunny’s ears, adding a delightful pop of color to our wreath. This unexpected use of a common item exemplifies the magic of crafting – turning everyday objects into something extraordinary.

Lastly, we’ll need some adorable felt bunny feet from Dollar Tree. These tiny details add a finishing touch to our wreath, bringing our bunny to life. Although one pack includes ten of these cute little feet, we’ll only be using two for this craft. The rest can be saved for future projects or even used to create matching decorations for your Easter celebration.

Now that we’ve gathered our supplies, it’s time to roll up our sleeves and immerse ourselves in the joyful process of crafting.

Crafting the Wreath

Embarking on your crafting journey, let’s start with the first step of our adventure – tying one end of the yarn onto the wreath form. This may seem like a simple task, but it’s the beginning of transforming our basic materials into a charming Easter decorations.

Cut a long piece of yarn and begin the process of wrapping it around the wire frame. Take your time with this step, ensuring to push the yarn together so that there are no gaps. Each wrap of the yarn brings our bunny to life, filling out its form and giving it a soft, fluffy texture. This step is especially perfect for those just starting their crafting journey as it requires no special skills, but still plays a crucial role in the final product.

As you work your way up the bunny form, you’ll reach the ears. Here, continue weaving the yarn through them to maintain continuity in the design. The ears are an important feature of our bunny, so take extra care to cover them thoroughly. Once you’ve covered the entire form with yarn, secure the end of the yarn to the frame with hot glue.

Now, we move on to creating the bunny’s ears. Measure and trace the bunny’s ears onto the gift bag using the wire frame as a guide. After tracing, cut out the shapes and set them aside. As you hold these cut-outs, you can start to see how they will add a pop of color and character to our wreath.

Next, finish up by wrapping the yarn around the wire ears. Use hot glue as needed to secure the yarn. This not only ensures that our wreath is sturdy but also gives it a neat, finished look.

Once you’ve finished wrapping, it’s time to add the final touches. Flip the wrapped wreath form over so that the back is facing up. Attach the cut-out gift bag pieces to the back of the ears using hot glue. Then, position the felt bunny feet at the bottom of your wreath and attach them to the yarn using hot glue. These small details might seem minor, but they’re what makes our bunny wreath truly special.

Lastly, create a hanger for your wreath by poking a piece of yarn (about 7-8 inches) through the top of the ears, forming a circular shape, and tying a knot. And voila! You’ve created a charming bunny wreath for Easter. This cheap DIY decor adds a festive touch to your home and is a testament to your craftiness. 

In conclusion, crafting doesn’t need to be expensive or complex. This craft is the perfect example of how you can create something beautiful and festive with just a few affordable supplies from your local stores. Materials I Picked Up

• Mesh ribbon (I got these for 50 cents at Dollar Tree because they were from Christmas!)
• Valentine’s Day decorative sticks and clips
• Valentine’s Day wooden sign that says “Be Mine”
• Sparkly heart wall decor
• And more!

I also picked up:

• A wreath frame from Dollar Tree
• Zip-ties
• Thin, bendable wire
• A loofah from the Dollar Tree

Starting the Process

Although I wasn’t sure how I was going to use everything at first, I decided to start with my wreath form and the mesh ribbon. With the mesh ribbon, I had two rolls of black and white ribbon, two rolls of white and silver, and two rolls of hot pink ribbon with a little bit of gold sparkle to them.

You are going to want to unroll these ribbons and cut them into 6-8 inch sections, attach them together in a little bundle, and then start to assemble your wreath. Last year, I made a witch’s hat with tulle, and this is the exact same process.

Before starting to attach the ribbon, I really liked the wooden sign I got from Dollar tree that says “Be Mine,” but I had to figure out how to attach it to the wreath form. Once I figured this out, I made a video on Youtube that is more detailed specifically to show this process. However, there is a quick version! The quick version involves using a mini command hook, but instead of using the adhesive that it comes with, I used hot glue to attach it to the back of the wooden sign for added strength. Make sure to place the command hook upside down so it will easily hook onto a metal ring on the wreath form. After you have hooked on your sign, you can attach it with a zip-tie to firmly secure it.

Now that the sign is attached, it is time to finish building out the rest of the wreath. Grab your cut strips of mesh ribbon. Starting with one color, scrunch it up like an accordion, then transfer it to your other hand. Add in a different color next, repeat the process with a third color, and then pinch everything together and attach your bundle to the wreath with a zip tie. 

The great thing about using mesh materials is that they are very forgiving. The pieces can be going every which way and it doesn’t look wrong because the mesh material fills up negative space and gives a great foundation for the wreath.

Attaching More Pieces

As you attach them, there is really no specific rhyme or reason. As I filled out the wreath, with some pieces I attached them in groups of three as I described above, others in groups of two, and some pieces individually. Do whatever works best for you and gives you the optimal result! Make sure as you are securing down the pieces with zip ties, cut off the extra length on each zip tie so it doesn’t poke you later on. Fill out the entire wreath with the mesh ribbon excluding the area with the wooden sign.

While I was shopping at Dollar Tree, I also passed a bright pink and white loofah and thought that I could probably make it into something, so I bought it! Now that I’ve gotten it home, I am going to deconstruct the loofah, and we are going to see how we can best utilize it in the Valentine’s wreath.

Snip the string holding the loofah together, and long strips of the plastic mesh used in loofahs will be revealed. Cut the loofah strips into 3-4 sections with scissors. After you have done this, open up each section so that a circle has formed, twist and hold the material in the middle, and you will have your very first poof! I chose to bring it all together in the middle with thin, bendable, wire, leaving some extra wire length on each poof so that I can use the wire to easily attach the poofs to the wreath form later. It is always good to have extra dimension and textures in your wreaths, so this will give us some extra oomph.

I decided to attach the loofah poofs I made to add some pops of color to the wreath, fluffing them and spreading them out a bit more before attaching them to the wreath. I want to make sure that they take up as much space as possible and are spread evenly around the wreath for maximum impact. If you want to use zip ties to bring together and attach the loofah poofs, then you can just zip the entire thing to the wreath.

Final Embellishments

All that is left is the fun stuff! We are going to repurpose the little things that we got from Dollar Tree as sparkly embellishments to make the wreath feel complete. From the items I got, I decided to first use a medium-sized sparkly pink heart from a festive heart wall hanging I picked up. I cut the heart I wanted to use out and saved the other two hearts for another project.

This is the part where you really just want to eyeball the placement of everything. I am going to use a couple of zip ties to attach this heart to the wreath frame.

Another couple of items I picked up were some sparkly heart embellishments on wires attached to a metal clip. I decided to use one of these, and I detached the embellishments and wire from the clip so that I could attach the wire to the wreath form easily.

Another couple of items I grabbed at Dollar Tree were some sparkly heart fire-sparkler-inspired sticks. Now I needed to find a fun spot for them on my wreath! First, I cut them apart and then placed them around the wreath to see what looked the best before attaching them. Once they are in the desired position, attach, you can attach yours. These are also wire-based, so you can just wrap the ends of the sticks around the wreath form.

I like a lot of texture in my wreaths, and you can get texture through different fabrics, ribbons, and other unique materials. For this wreath, we mixed the meshed ribbon with the Loofah material, and we’ve also got the wooden sign and all the sparkly items. Mixing it up looks really nice, so don’t be afraid to play!
