During one of my recent wanderings through the aisles of Walmart, a burst of color caught my attention. Nestled among the shelves were these delightful mini flower bundles, each priced at just $.97. Their vibrant hues and delicate petals were a reminder that beauty often resides in simplicity. These tiny bundles held so much potential, waiting to be transformed into something truly enchanting. Along with some floral wire, also conveniently available at Walmart, these bundles will form the foundation of our project.

Bringing Everything Together

The first step in crafting our Easter wreath is preparing the flower bundles. This process involves fluffing out each bundle, enhancing its volume, and giving it a fuller, more visually appealing look. It’s like breathing life into these bundles, allowing them to bloom to their fullest potential. Once done, we’re ready to start arranging them into a shape that’s reminiscent of a carrot, marking the beginning of our creative journey.

Our carrot starts taking shape at the tip. Arrange three bundles together to form a point, with one bunch protruding slightly further than the two on either side. At the juncture where all three stems meet, bind them together using our floral wire. This small cluster forms the base of our carrot, setting the stage for the layers to come.

Next, pick up three more flower bundles. This time, however, ensure all three are at the same height. After wiring them together, attach this second layer to the first bundle we made. As we add each layer, our carrot will start to take shape, growing in size and vibrancy.

Then, move on to create a larger flower bundle using four mini-bunches. Following the same process, ensure all four are at the same height, wire them together at the point where they meet, and attach this third layer to the previous two. Each layer adds depth to the carrot shape, making it fuller and more realistic.

For the final layer, use five mini-bunches of flowers. Fan them out as before and attach them where they converge. It’s essential to pre-bend the outer flowers outwards for easier attachment later. This final layer is secured to the previous three layers using floral wire, completing the body of our carrot.

Now that our carrot is fully formed, it’s time to add character by incorporating some greenery at the top. Attach a small block of floral foam to the bottom of your bouquet using floral wire. For added security, reinforce it with a dab of hot glue. To give it a neater finish, wrap the foam in a piece of burlap.

Adding the greenery is perhaps the most exciting part of the process. It breathes life into the carrot decoration, adding depth, variation, and a dash of realism. Use both larger and smaller pieces of greenery, arranging them until you’re satisfied with the look.

Finally, turn your attention to the open space in the center of our carrot. Here, create a big, attractive bow out of natural-looking ribbon. I’ve chosen burlap-style ribbon, yellow and pink checkered ribbon (to match my peach, pink, and yellow flowers), and a smaller white and sage green checkered ribbon. Attach your bow with pipe cleaners to the middle section and fan it out to cover the empty space.

KitchenAid Cheese Shredder Attachment: First Impressions & Review

When my family and I decided to take the challenge to eat healthier, we were left either cutting out ingredients altogether or using ingredients that were more difficult to prepare. Since then, I have been on the hunt for products that could make my life easier when it comes to cooking.

One of our favorite foods, pasta, is not especially healthy so we made the switch to zucchini noodles. I wanted to be able to make the noodles at home in order to save a little bit of money, so I started doing some research. There are plenty spiralizers on the market, but none of them quite fit the bill of what I was looking for. That is what lead me to look up KitchenAid attachments.

I already use my KitchenAid Mixer frequently when I’m baking. It is a total God-send! At the time, I didn’t realize that there were more uses for the KitchenAid Mixer than strictly baking. I found these attachments: the KitchenAid Mixer Spiralizer and the KitchenAid Shredder Attachment. They have been game-changers!

In this post, I am going to give my honest first impressions and reviews of each attachment so you know what you’re getting into when you buy your own attachments. I am not sponsored, so these are my honest opinions.

KitchenAid Mixer Spiralizer

First impressions are everything, and the first thing I noticed about the Spiralizer was the packaging. Everything is placed neatly in the box and there are plenty of different sizes depending on what you are looking for. I really enjoyed having didn’t sizes I could choose from to.

Now that I have had this product for a while, I use it all the time. Whether I’m making zucchini or squash noodles, this product saves me both time and money, so it’s a win in my books!

KitchenAid Cheese Shredder Attachment

A little bit before it was time to start prepping and planning Thanksgiving dinner, I was looking for a new cheese grater. I had almost purchased one when I remembered that KitchenAid has all sorts of different attachments. That’s when I found the Shredder attachment. It is seriously fantastic.

Once again, I love the packaging. Everything is neatly put together and easy to store away. I decided the best way to test out the shredder would be by making homemade mac-n-cheese. Store-bought shredded cheese has a caking agent in it that prevents the cheese from melting properly. So, I attached the shredder to the KitchenAid and got to shredding!

The shredder turns the block of cheese into beautiful shreds of curly cheese. It took barely any time at all! I used a 32 oz block of cheese and the attachment ended up producing enough to fill a 1-gallon ziplock bag. I could not be more impressed with this!

The very best thing about this shredder is that it is all machine washable! It is incredibly easy to attach to the KitchenAid and cleanup is very simple.

Final Thoughts

So, are the KitchenAid Shredder and Spiralizer attachments worth it? Absolutely! The Spiralizer attachment is a bit pricier than the Shredder. The Spiralizer is about $76, whereas the Shredder is about $36.

Having the ability to make my own zoodles (zucchini noodles) and soodles (squash noodles) from home saves my family money in the long run. Although the attachments are a bit of an investment, they are an investment that has paid off.

I love any excuse to use my KitchenAid and these two new attachments have given it new life. It has made preparing fresh, home-cooked meals a breeze and I would not trade that for anything. If you are on the fence about purchasing the Spiralizer or Shredder attachments, let this be your sign!

What to Pack When Staying in a Hotel

Many people live and die by the phrase “pack light”. I, on the other hand, do not. I am a firm believer in bringing my favorite products with me on vacation. There is no worse feeling than arriving at your destination and realizing you forgot something. It may not be an absolute essential, but something you want nonetheless.

Not only that, but why would I want to leave behind my tried and true products and gamble on the quality of travel-sized lotions, shampoos, and conditioners that I already know will not work on my thick, curly hair?

Lots of tourist destinations bank on you forgetting something so that they can drastically mark-up the price on something relatively cheap, like sunscreen. Because of this, I have put together the ultimate packing list for my upcoming 18th anniversary trip with my husband. We are going to the same place we always go- our favorite: The Wynn in Las Vegas!

Since it’s just my husband and me on this trip, I have way more room in my suitcase. No kid’s toys or clothing to take up that space, I can bring whatever I want.

So, let’s get into it! Here is my ultimate list of 20 essentials you need to pack when staying in a hotel.

What to Pack

Phone Holder for Airplane: Whether your flight is long or short, you’re going to want some form of entertainment. I like to watch a TV show or movie while flying, which is why this hands-free phone holder is a travel essential. It clips directly onto the tray so I don’t have to hold my phone! Not only is it great for air travel, but I also use it in the car while I’m waiting in the pick-up line at my kids’ school. Pro tip: if you want to watch something on your phone, make sure you download it before the flight!

Snacks: If you’ve ever been to an airport then you already know how ridiculous the snack prices are. That’s why I make sure to bring some with me. I have little ziplock baggies that I can fill up with whatever snacks I feel like bringing with me on the plane.

Airpod Case: Airpods are tiny and so easy to lose track of. That’s why I put my Airpods in a cute case that has a carabiner clip to attach to my purse or belt loop. This is a travel-friendly accessory that I love, especially since it prevents me from losing them in the bottomless pit of my purse.

Neck Pillow: I am currently in the market for a new and improved neck pillow. The one I currently have is tried and true Walmart. What I do like about my current pillow is that it has snaps to connect it to your luggage.

The Weekender Travel Wrap: This was actually an anniversary gift that my husband got me last year when we were out shopping. It’s so incredibly convenient! It’s meant to be a wrap for your shoulders but my kids and I use it as a travel blanket. It folds up into a little case that I can toss in my purse or luggage so I can use it in the car or plane. My kids like to use it for car rides.

Luggage Travel Cup Holder: I am so excited to take this with us on our trip! It folds from completely flat into two cup holders and a pocket that you can wrap around the handle of your luggage. The cup holders are secured by velcro so it’s fast and easy to remove and slid into your backpack when you’re done.

A good book to read: If you’re not currently into any movies or TV shows, you should probably bring a good book with you during your travels for entertainment. I’ve been reading “In the Flow of Life” by Eric Butterworth and I’ve been loving it!

Body Glide: I know I like to bust out all my new outfits on vacation, and that means wearing shoes that haven’t been broken in yet. If you’ve got a lot of walking to do and don’t want chafe sores on your feet, I highly suggest getting some Body Glide.

Medications: As I said before, tourist destinations love to mark up the prices of essential items. That’s why I put some Tums and Advil in my little ziplock baggies. We don’t want to spend an arm and a leg at a convenience store.

Liquid IV: Airplanes tend to dry me out, so I love bringing Liquid IV with me when I have to travel by plane. They taste great and give me a boost of hydration and immune support so I’m not feeling under the weather on vacation.

Tote Bag: When you’re out running around on vacation you definitely need a big enough bag to carry around your new goodies. Although the bag I use is not made anymore, I’ve linked another great option!

Sun Hat: This sun hat is fantastic to travel with! It folds flat so it doesn’t take up much space in your bag. Since we will be in Vegas, I need something to shield my face from the sun when we sit out by the pool.

Sunscreen: If you’re traveling somewhere tropical or sunny, you’re going to need some sunscreen. Sunscreen is one of those most common items to get the price marked up in tourist destinations, so be sure to bring your own.

Ball Cap: I don’t want to have to wake up early on vacation to do my hair and makeup before going down for breakfast, so my solution is a good ball cap. Throw it on in the morning and you’re good to go!

Dyson: The blow dryers at hotels never seem to be enough for my long, thick, curly hair. I love this Dyson hair dryer, it is totally worth the investment!

Travel Steamer: This travel steamer is essential if you’re bringing nicer clothing with you on your trip. Although wrinkles don’t bother me too much when I have my kids with me, I want to look my best when it’s just my husband and me.

Room Spray: When you’re on vacation you most likely aren’t eating your average diet. Because of that, you’ll want to pack some room spray for the benefit of you and your spouse.

Travel Charger: If you’re anything like us, you know how difficult it can be to charge all your devices at the same time. Most hotels only have 2-3 outlets, which is why we bring a travel charger.

Surge Protector: On the topic of outlets, a travel-sized surge protector is a great thing to bring with you if you travel with lots of devices like we do.

Magnetic Power Bank: If all your charging ports are already full or you’re on an excursion and your phone battery is getting low, bring a magnetic power bank with you! That way you don’t have to worry about plugging in to charge.

Everything You Need to Bring for a Relaxing Day at the Spa

Vacation looks different for everyone. Some enjoy thrilling adventures in faraway places, whereas some enjoy vegging out in familiar spots. For me, vacation looks like the Encore Spa at the Wynn in Las Vegas. For years now, my husband and I have been vacationing at the Wynn, it is one of our favorite places to go together and we know exactly what we want to do when we get there.

First things first: if I am going to spend a considerable amount of money at the spa, then you better bet that I am going to spread out the day as best I can! I want to take as much time for myself in the sauna, whirlpool, or whatever else they have so that I can take my time getting ready before going out to dinner and leave feeling relaxed.

Over the years, I have gotten my spa visits down to a science; I know exactly what products I want to bring. Keep in mind, however, that you don’t actually have to bring anything with you to visit the Encore Spa. Personally, I have super thick, long, curly hair that cannot be tamed by just any hair dryer or shampoo and conditioner. So, buckle in and we will go over everything I bring with me for a relaxing day at the spa!

The first thing I need is my large tote bag to carry all my supplies in. I’ve had this bag for quite some time, and it is one of my favorites! It is a travel essential, especially because it takes up virtually no space in your suitcase.

Most spas, Encore included, have combs and other hair products for guests to use but I’m partial to my own pick, so that’s going in my bag as well. I don’t ever really brush my hair out, but I like to use my pick if it is getting messy to help me style.

Like I said earlier, most spas will have amenities like hair dryers for guests to use, but since my hair is so thick it takes forever to dry. I don’t want to spend the majority of my spa time fussing with my hair so I bring my own dryer with me.

I have found that this Dyson dryer is the best for my hair. It has different magnetic attachments, making it easier to travel with. It is essential to bring it with me if I’m away from home to avoid a bad hair day.

Entertainment

One of the most important things for me to bring is a really good book. As a mom of three, my house isn’t exactly a quiet place. I want to take advantage of the peace and quiet to get caught up on my reading. Currently, I am reading “In the Flow of Life” by Eric Butterworth. I highly recommend this book! Since you’re already at the spa, might as well read a book that will soothe your soul, too!

If you’re not a reader or didn’t bring a good book, you can always listen to your own music. Many spas have phone regulation rules so be sure to ask the management team if you can bring your phone. If you’re only allowed to have your phone in the common areas, I suggest bringing AirPods so you don’t have to bring your phone in.

You don’t really ever need to bring anything with you to the spa aside from yourself, but if you’re like me you’ll want to pack a few things. If you feel like packing things to take with you to the spa adds too much stress, then just bring yourself and enjoy that you-time! For me, the spa isn’t just a two-hour deal. It’s all day to maximize my benefits!
