With just a few simple ingredients and this free template, you can get creative and whip up a fun cake that will leave your little guy feeling special and loved on his big day. Baking your Cake Layers

Before we create our dinosaur masterpiece, we need to bake the cake layers first. It’s a simple one-layer cake, just using two round cake pans. You can go wild with flavors, or simply use whatever you already have in your pantry – like our strawberry choice.

TIME SAVING TRICK: bake your cake rounds ahead of time and store them in the freezer. Come decorating day, this will save you a step, and working with frozen cake is a breeze!

Creating the Dinosaur Shape

To create your dino cake shape, you just need 2 things, a serrated knife and a template. We’ve made the dino part easy-you don’t need to be a pro at sculpting cakes because we’ve created a free template that you can print out and use as a guide. Simply place the template on top of your cake layer and use the knife to cut around it. This template was created for an 8″ round cake pan. If you have a 9″ inch round cake pan, no problem! I explain how to make a simple adjustment to make it work for that size as well.

Frosting your Dino Cake

It’s time for the frosting! Once you’ve cut your cake layers, the fun really begins. While some bakers prefer to make their own frosting, you know I’m always finding the easy and this time, I’m using premade frosting. If you want to boost the flavor of that store-bought icing, I have a great hack for that here in this video! I used gel food colors to achieve a pretty blue. For best results, start with a crumb coat. After chilling your cake, you can proceed to decorate it however you like.

Decorating your Cake

It’s time to decorate your cake—this is the part where all you really creative moms can go to town! Use colored fondant to add details like eyes, nose, claws, and spikes to bring your dinosaur cake to life. You can even use edible paint or coloring. But me? The simpler, the better! I just piped simple dots all over the cake and use chocolate chips around the edge of the cake board to give it a more finished looked. Easy peasy!

During one of my recent wanderings through the aisles of Walmart, a burst of color caught my attention. Nestled among the shelves were these delightful mini flower bundles, each priced at just $.97. Their vibrant hues and delicate petals were a reminder that beauty often resides in simplicity. These tiny bundles held so much potential, waiting to be transformed into something truly enchanting. Along with some floral wire, also conveniently available at Walmart, these bundles will form the foundation of our project.

Bringing Everything Together

The first step in crafting our Easter wreath is preparing the flower bundles. This process involves fluffing out each bundle, enhancing its volume, and giving it a fuller, more visually appealing look. It’s like breathing life into these bundles, allowing them to bloom to their fullest potential. Once done, we’re ready to start arranging them into a shape that’s reminiscent of a carrot, marking the beginning of our creative journey.

Our carrot starts taking shape at the tip. Arrange three bundles together to form a point, with one bunch protruding slightly further than the two on either side. At the juncture where all three stems meet, bind them together using our floral wire. This small cluster forms the base of our carrot, setting the stage for the layers to come.

Next, pick up three more flower bundles. This time, however, ensure all three are at the same height. After wiring them together, attach this second layer to the first bundle we made. As we add each layer, our carrot will start to take shape, growing in size and vibrancy.

Then, move on to create a larger flower bundle using four mini-bunches. Following the same process, ensure all four are at the same height, wire them together at the point where they meet, and attach this third layer to the previous two. Each layer adds depth to the carrot shape, making it fuller and more realistic.

For the final layer, use five mini-bunches of flowers. Fan them out as before and attach them where they converge. It’s essential to pre-bend the outer flowers outwards for easier attachment later. This final layer is secured to the previous three layers using floral wire, completing the body of our carrot.

Now that our carrot is fully formed, it’s time to add character by incorporating some greenery at the top. Attach a small block of floral foam to the bottom of your bouquet using floral wire. For added security, reinforce it with a dab of hot glue. To give it a neater finish, wrap the foam in a piece of burlap.

Adding the greenery is perhaps the most exciting part of the process. It breathes life into the carrot decoration, adding depth, variation, and a dash of realism. Use both larger and smaller pieces of greenery, arranging them until you’re satisfied with the look.

Finally, turn your attention to the open space in the center of our carrot. Here, create a big, attractive bow out of natural-looking ribbon. I’ve chosen burlap-style ribbon, yellow and pink checkered ribbon (to match my peach, pink, and yellow flowers), and a smaller white and sage green checkered ribbon. Attach your bow with pipe cleaners to the middle section and fan it out to cover the empty space.

And there you have it, folks! You’ve successfully created a charming carrot-shaped Easter wreath that will surely add a festive touch to your home. Today, we’re going to create Peeps Easter Bunny Decor using kneeling pads from the Dollar Tree, and yes, believe it or not, the result will be simply fantastic! And to make things even more exciting, I have a free template ready for you to download, so you can easily replicate my peeps at home. So let’s get crafty with these fabulous, versatile little peeps that we can use both as outdoor decorations or additions to wreaths and other Easter decor. Here’s the Step-By-Step to Guide To Making Your Own Easter Peep Decor

Gathering your materials

Before getting started, you’ll need to gather a few basic supplies. And here’s the best part. You only have to purchase one thing! Talk about a cost-effective project! Here’s what you’ll need:

1. Kneeling pads (varying colors for different peeps)
2. Scissors
3. Pen
4. Utility knife
5. My free downloadable template
6. Optional: Ribbons, bows, or any other embellishments you’d like to use

Prepping your template

The template I created is the exact size for the kneeling pads. Watch my YouTube video for step-by-step directions on how to print and use the template. The peep will print on 2 pieces of paper. Carefully cut out the printed peep template, making sure to get the shape right, then tape the 2 pieces together. This will become your guide for creating your peeps.

Getting creative with kneeling pads

Take your chosen kneeling pad and lay it down flat on your work surface. Place the peep template over the kneeling pad, making sure it is centered and even. Grab a pen and trace the outline of the peep onto the kneeling pad. Now it’s time to cut! Using your utility knife, simply score through the foam. Repeat the process with the remaining kneeling pads and different colors, so you have a full flock of peeps waiting to be adorned!

Accessorizing your peeps

Now that your peeps are perfectly cut and ready for their debut, this is the part where you can let your creativity shine. Using your glue gun and any desired accessories, customize each peep with ribbons, bows, googly eyes or whatever else strikes your fancy! Remember, these little bunnies can become a part of your outdoor decor, wreaths or any other Easter decorations around the house, so feel free to style them accordingly.
